Requirements
  • This program is open to architecture students and architects interested in conducting research into health care programming and planning.
  • Applicants may be 1) undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an NAABaccredited architecture program or healthcare-focused (nursing, health administration, product design, industrial design, etc.) program; students should be in the final year of their degree program and the architecture program should have a focus in healthcare architecture or a school of healthcare focused design, planning, management, or product design; applicant's study/thesis must demonstrate a focus in healthcare design research; 2) doctoral candidates in the health facilities field or conducting an independent study that is near completion; their study/thesis must demonstrate a focus in healthcare design research; 3) professionals in independent study for those currently not enrolled in an academic institution and interested in conducting independent research in the health facility field.
  • Undergraduates and graduate students must submit a plan listing courses that will permit them to concentrate on the planning and design of health care facilities.
  • Doctoral candidates must be prepared and in a position to devote adequate time to complete the proposed research during the allotted period.
  • All applicants must have a command of the English language and a record of past academic performance that strongly indicates an ability to complete the fellowship successfully.
  • Selection is based on significance of the proposed research, qualifications of the applicant, content of the letters of recommendation, completeness and clarity of the application, and potential of the applicant to make significant future professional contributions.
