Hispanic Heritage Youth Scholarship recognizes and rewards, with college scholarships or grants for community service projects, Hispanic high school juniors from selected metropolitan areas throughout the country who have excelled in various areas of activity.

Requirements
  • This program is open to high school juniors who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or DACA students and of Hispanic heritage (at least 1 parent must be able to trace family origins to Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Latin America, or the Spanish-speaking Caribbean).
  • Recently, awards were available to students in 10 regions: Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, northern California, Phoenix, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C. Applicants competed in the following 6 categories: business and entrepreneurship, education, technology and engineering, media and entertainment, health care and science, and community service.
  • They must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Selection criteria include but are not limited to, the following: academic achievement, compelling essay responses, meritorious achievements in the applicant's chosen category, contribution to the community, overall character as a role model, and letters of recommendation.
  • Awardees must attend, at their own expense, a local awards ceremony for the region they have selected.
