IAM Scholarship Competition provides financial assistance for college to members and children of members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM).

Requirements
  • This program is open to IAM members with 2 years of continuous good standing in the union in the United States or Canada, and their children, stepchildren, or legally adopted children.
  • Members must be working in a company under contract with the IAM and expect to continue this work until entering school; they may be enrolling full or parttime in college as a freshman or at some higher undergraduate level.
  • Children of members must be graduating high school seniors planning to enroll full time; the qualifying parent must be living or must have died after the child entered high school.
  • Scholarships are not available to applicants who do not intend to work without interruption for a bachelor's degree or a vocational/technical school certification, to members' children who are attending or have already attended college, to children of members on the payroll of the Grand Lodge, or to graduate students.
  • Selection is based on grades, attitude toward study, personal references, ACT and/or SAT scores, the opinion of counselors and teachers, and activities outside of school; for member applicants, weight also is given to participation in local lodge activities.
