Requirements

This program is open to the children of members of the federation who are planning to attend or are currently attending an accredited college, university, or community college.

Applicants must be working toward a degree in 1 of the following occupational areas related to agriculture: production (e.g., animal science, dairy science, equine science, veterinary science); agricultural products and processing (e.g., food science, nutritional sciences); agribusiness; agricultural research (e.g., biofuels, biorenewables, genetics); conservation and natural resources (e.g., environmental studies, wildlife ecology and conservation); economics (e.g., agricultural economics, public service and administration in agriculture, global agricultural studies); education (agricultural education and studies for elementary or secondary teachers only); environmental systems (e.g., wind turbine energy, mechanical engineering); forestry (e.g., natural resources, ecology, forestry management); horticulture (e.g., agronomy, landscape architecture); mechanization (e.g., agricultural systems technology, agricultural engineering); or nursing (B.S.N. or R.N. for work in rural communities only).

Selection is based on an essay on their professional goals and objectives, academic performance and honors, ACT or SAT score, class rank, 2 letters of recommendation, and financial need.
