James Echols Scholarship provides financial assistance to minority student members of the California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.

Requirements

This program is open to California residents who have been members of the association for at least 30 days and are attending a 2- or 4-year college or university in the state.

Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students working on a degree in health education, physical education, recreation, or dance and have completed at least 60 semester hours of college work.

Selection is based on scholastic proficiency (a GPA of 3.0 or higher); leadership ability in school, community, and professional activities; and personal qualities of enthusiasm, cooperativeness, responsibility, initiative, and ability to work with others.

This scholarship is awarded to the highestranked minority (Asian, African American, Latino, or Native American) applicant.
