The Jeffrey Downes Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Trades is available to residents of Bristol, Burlington, Harwinton, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington, or Wolcott, Connecticut who demonstrate a passion for a skilled trade. Applicants who are planning to pursue an apprenticeship program, technical education trade school, or other career training program with a focus on a skilled trade area are eligible to apply. Special consideration is given to applicants seeking a commercial driver's license (CDL) who do not qualify for financial assistance from other sources.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Resident of Bristol, Burlington, Harwinton, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington, or Wolcott, Connecticut
  • Graduating high school senior or attending or planning to return to a postsecondary institution
  • Seeking a professional certificate in an apprenticeship program, technical education trade school, or other career training program with a focus on a skilled trade area (i.e. CDL, electrician, plumber, HVAC, precision machining, automotive technology, welding,or metal fabrication, etc.)
  • Demonstrate a passion for driving Preference is given to applicants seeking a commercial driver's license (CDL) who do not qualify for financial assistance from other sources.
