Kentucky Department of Agriculture Livestock-Dairy Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of Kentucky who have participated in livestock programs of the state Department of Agriculture and are interested in attending college in any state.

Requirements
  • This program is open to residents of Kentucky who are graduating high school seniors or students enrolled at a college (including vocational/technical schools and junior colleges) in any state.
  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in high school or 2.5 or higher in college.
  • They must have participated within the past 2 years in at least 2 statesponsored districts of preview shows; at least 1 Showmanship class at a state-sponsored district show or Kentucky Junior Livestock Expo; at least 1 Kentucky Junior Livestock Expo; at least 1 Kentucky Junior Livestock Expo skill-a-thon, livestock judging, or dairy judging contest; and community services, volunteer work, and extracurricular activities.
  • Awards are presented for 5 livestock species: beef, dairy, swine, sheep, and goats.
  • Selection is based on that essay (40%), participation in Department of Agriculture events (25%), community service and volunteer work (5%), extracurricular activities (5%), GPA (10%), letters of recommendation (10%), and ACT/SAT score (5%).
