Louisiana Housing Council Resident High School Senior Nontraditional Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of Louisiana who are high school seniors living in housing managed by member agencies of the Louisiana Housing Council (LHC) and planning to enroll in a nontraditional program at a college in any state.

Requirements
  • This program is open to high school seniors living in public or assisted housing at an LCH member agency.
  • Applicants must be planning to enroll at a college or university in any state in a nontraditional program or as a nontraditional student.
  • They must submit transcripts that include ACT scores, 3 letters of recommendation (including 1 from the administrator of their housing unit), and an essay of 350 to 400 words on either 1) their approach to dealing with change, crises, and added responsibilities; or 2) an experience in which they have been successful in overcoming an obstacle.
  • Selection is based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and financial need.
