Mario Lomeli Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors in southern California who have participated in theatrical festivals and plan to study theater arts at a college in any state.

Requirements

This program is open to seniors graduating from high schools who have participated in at least 1 Southern Regional Festival of the California Educational Theatre Association (CETA)and at least 1 fall or spring festival of the Drama Teachers of Southern California (DTASC).

Applicants must be planning to attend a college, university, or art institute in any state to major or minor in theater arts.

They must have successfully completed all courses in their junior and senior years with no grade lower than a "C." Along with their application, they must submit 200word statements on 1) the roles they have played or positions they held in grades 6-12; 2) the role or position of which they are most proud; 3) some of the theater awards they have received during grades 6-12; 4) the award of which they are most proud; and 5) why they have decided to declare a major or minor in theater arts.

Selection is based on those statements along with a 5minute audition, including 1 contemporary and 1 classical monologue, presented at the DTASC spring festival.
