Michigan Elks Association Gold Key Scholarship provides financial assistance to "special needs" students in Michigan who plan to attend college in any state.

Requirements

This program is open to "special needs" students who are Michigan residents.

For the purposes of this program, "special needs" students are defined as those who are physically or mentally challenged.

Applicants must be high school seniors and planning to attend an accredited college, university, trade school, or vocational school in any state.

They must submit a statement on the nature and degree of their "special needs;" the school they have chosen to attend and why; their educational and career goals; how they anticipate financing school; the special equipment, devices, and/or supportive services they require; and their extracurricular activities, interests, and/or hobbies.

Other required submissions include high school transcripts, a 200word letter from their parent describing the family financial situation and the student's need for assistance, 3 letters of recommendation, and verification of "special needs" from a doctor.

Sponsorship by a local Elks lodge is required.
