NJ State Thespian Senior Technical Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors in New Jersey who have demonstrated excellence in technical theater and plan to attend college in any state.

Requirements

This program is open to students who have been enrolled as seniors at a New Jersey high school for at least 1 year and plan to attend a college or university in any state with a major or minor in theater, film, communications, radio or television broadcasting, art, or graphic design.

Applicants must be members of the International Thespian Society.

They must register for the New Jersey Thespian Festival to which they bring 1) a theatrical resume that includes their technical and performance work; 2) a list of their thespian activities on the local, state, and/or international level; and 3) a portfolio that includes 2 designs from the following categories: lighting, scenic, makeup, and/or costume.

At the Festival, they participate in a personal interview with the judging committee.

Selection is based on their designs (60%), the interview (20%), and the resume of thespian activities (20%).
