North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Scholarship provides financial assistance to North Carolina residents who are Vietnam veterans or the dependents of veterans and interested in attending college in any state.

Requirements

This program is open to current residents of Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Nash, or Wake counties in North Carolina who are either a Vietnam veteran or the veteran's spouse, child, foster child, adopted child, or grandchild.

Families of members of North Carolina Vietnam Veterans, Inc.

(NCVVI) who live in any county of the state are also eligible.

Applicants must be attending or planning to attend a college, university, community college, or trade school in any state.

They must submit a copy of the Department of Defense Form DD214 to document Vietnam service; a birth certificate and/or marriage license (as needed); a personal statement about themselves, including work experience, anticipated career, and goals; a list of current activities and awards; and an essay of 600 to 900 words on a topic that changes annually; recently, the topic related to the impact of the draft on the country during the Vietnam War.
