Northwest Journalists of Color Reporting Scholarship provides financial assistance to students from Washington state who demonstrate a commitment to the importance of diverse cultural backgrounds and are interested in careers in journalism.

Requirements

This program is open to students who are 1) current high school juniors or seniors in Washington; 2) residents of any state attending a 2- or 4-year college, university, or vocational school in Washington; or 3) seniors graduating from Washington high schools and planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college, university, or vocational school in any state.

Applicants must be preparing for a career in broadcast, photo, or print journalism.

They do not need to identify as a student of color, but strong preference is given to applicants who demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the importance of diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences in newsrooms.
