Princess Grace Scholarship provides financial support to students and emerging artists engaged in various forms of artistic expression.

Requirements
  • This program is open to emerging artists and artists, including undergraduate and graduate students, at the onset of their careers.
  • Candidates must be nominated by 1) universities, colleges, and nonprofit professional training programs, each of which may nominate 1 undergraduate and 1 graduate student per category of choreography, dance, theater, film, and animation; 2) organizations such as nonprofit theater companies, dance companies, or media arts centers, each of which may nominate 1 artist per year per category in the same 5 categories; or 3) previous Princess Grace Award winners, who may nominate 1 artist per year.
  • Selfnominations are not accepted.
  • Nominated artists must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently living and working in the United States.
  • They must submit, along with their letter of nomination, either a 1page essay or 3-minute video describing their current artistic work, career trajectory, and the ambitions and aspirations they hold for their artistry.
  • Based on the letter of nomination and the accompanying essay or video, selected artists are invited to submit 2 to 3 work samples up to 10 minutes in length and a 1page statement describing what distinguishes them as an artist, how they measure success in their art form, and how their craft and skills help them define success in their field.
  • Winners are selected on the basis of the promise and potential of the applicant to be extraordinary, defined as artistic intentionality, demonstration of the technique in creative practice, the potential for innovation, and impact of the artist on their field.
