Award Amount Varies
  • Essay Required: Yes
  • Need-Based: No
  • Merit-Based: No
Requirements
  • This program is open to RBO members who are high school seniors in states where the organization is authorized to sell life insurance (Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania) and have had a policy of $10,000 or more for at least 2 years.
  • Applicants must first apply for the SS. Cyril and Methodius Scholarship Program, which requires them to list their extracurricular and community activities; describe their work experience; write an essay on the interest, talent, or activity that they think has contributed the most to their development; and write another essay on the kind of life they would like to lead 15 to 25 years from now if they could do what they most wanted to do.
  • If they receive that scholarship and complete their freshman year of college according to the standards set by their institution, they may apply for the Alexis Russin Scholarship Award, which requires a 2page essay about the RBO, their involvement in it, and what they project for its future.
  • Selection for that scholarship is based on academic achievement (80%) and their civic, church, fraternal, volunteer, and extracurricular activities (20%).
