The Sam Edelman Memorial Scholarship is available to transgender and gender-diverse students from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington pursuing a postsecondary education. Special consideration is given to students working in social justice and pursuing a degree in political science and international relations.

Requirements
  • Resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington for a minimum of three months prior to the application deadline or lived within the state for at least one out of the five prior years
  • High school senior, undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, medical, or law student
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, bachelor's, graduate, law, medical degree, or Ph.D.
  • Transgender or gender diverse
  • Proven leadership potential in the LGBTQ+ community or field of study
  • Lack of a broader LGBTQ+ community support system
  • Encountered additional barriers to education, including economic, racial, social, geographical, or being politically disenfranchised
  • Demonstrate financial need Preference is given to students working in social justice and pursuing a degree in political science and international relations.
