SME Education Foundation Family Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors and college undergraduates who are descendants of members of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and plan to enroll in a degree program in manufacturing engineering or manufacturing engineering technology.

Requirements
  • This program is open to graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students who have less than 30 credit hours completed and who have at least 1 parent or grandparent who has been an SME member in good standing for at least the last 2 years.
  • Applicants must work on a degree in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing engineering technology, or a closelyrelated engineering field of study at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.
  • They must have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher and scores of at least 1000 on the mathematics and critical reading SAT and/or 21 on the ACT. Along with their application, they must submit a brief statement about why they chose their major, their career and educational objectives, and how this scholarship will help them attain those objectives.
  • Financial need is not considered in the selection process.
  • U.S. or Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, or student visa is required.
