The Tiara Desmond Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to LGBTQIA+ students or the children of LGBTQIA+ persons who reside in Oregon or southwest Washington and are interested in studying theater or the arts at a college.

Requirements

This program is open to 1) persons who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBTQIA+); or 2) the children of LGBTQIA+ parents.

Applicants must have been residents of Oregon or the Washington counties of Clark, Cowlitz, Skamania, or Wahkiakum for at least 1 year.

They must be enrolled or planning to enroll at a college or university in any state and major in theater or the arts.

Financial need must be demonstrated.

Personal interviews are required.

Selection is based on clarity of career and educational goals, potential to succeed in an educational program, experience as a volunteer or serviceoriented leader, commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community, and capacity for overcoming difficult circumstances and making the most of personal assets.
