Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska College Student Assistance Scholarship provides financial assistance for undergraduate and graduate study in any state to enrolled Tlingit or Haida tribal members.

Requirements
  • This program is open to Tlingit or Haida tribal members who are working full or part-time on an undergraduate or graduate degree at a college or university in any state.
  • Applicants must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher if an undergraduate or 3.0 or higher if a graduate student.
  • Scholarship applications are given priority based on the following point system: 30 points for students residing in the Compact Service areas of the Central Council: Haines, Juneau, Kasaan, Pelican, Saxman, and Tenakee; 15 points for graduation from a high school within those service areas; and 5 points if the applicant or the applicant's parents can trace their origins to those service areas.
  • Students who originate from the designated communities but live outside of southeast Alaska are eligible to apply but are supported on a "funds available" basis only.
  • Students who live in, originate from, and/or are enrolled in the following communities must apply for funding through their local IRA tribe: Angoon, Craig, Douglas, Hoonah, Hydaburg, Kake, Ketchikan, Klukwan, Metlakatla, Petersburg, Sitka, Skagway, Wrangell, or Yakutat.
