The USDA/1890 National Scholars Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors entering their freshman year of college and rising college sophomores and junior students. Students planning to pursue post-secondary education in a field related to agriculture or agribusiness at one of the nineteen historically black 1890 land grant institutions are encouraged to apply.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3.00 GPA
  • Minimum SAT composite score of 1080 or minimum ACT composite score of 21
  • Resident of the U.S.
  • High school seniors entering their freshman year of college, and rising college sophomores and junior
  • Seeking a bachelor's degree
  • Studying agribusiness, agricultural production and technology, agricultural economics, agricultural engineering and mechanics, agronomy or crop sciences, animal sciences, botany, farm and range management, food science and technology, forestry and related sciences, home economics and nutrition, horticulture, natural resources management, preveterinary medicine, soil conservation/soil science, veterinary technology, or other related discipline
  • Attend Alabama A&M University, Alcorn State University, Mississippi; Central State University, Ohio; Delaware State University; Florida A&M University, Fort Valley State University, Georgia; and Kentucky State University, Langston University, Oklahoma; Lincoln University, Missouri; North Carolina A&T State University, Prairie View A&M University, Texas; South Carolina State University, Southern University, Louisiana; Tennessee State University, Tuskegee University, Alabama; University of Arkansas Pine Bluff; University of Maryland Eastern Shore; Virginia State University; West Virginia State University
