Requirements
  • This program is open to residents of Wisconsin who are African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, or southeast Asians (students who were admitted to the United States after December 31, 1975, and who are former citizens of Laos, Vietnam, or Cambodia, or whose ancestor was a citizen of 1 of those countries).
  • Applicants must be enrolled at least halftime as sophomores, juniors, or seniors at an independent or public institution in the state in a program leading to teaching licensure in a discipline identified as a teacher shortage area and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • They must agree to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school, or a tribal school, in the city of Milwaukee.
  • Financial need is considered in the selection process.
  • Eligible students should apply through their school's financial aid office.
