From the Institution

ECU offers 88 baccalaureate degree programs, 16 undergraduate certificates, 69 master's degrees, 32 accelerated baccalaureate/master's programs, 5 professional doctoral degrees, 13 research doctoral degrees, 82 post-baccalaureate certificates, and almost a dozen dual, integrated, or specialist options. Additionally, ECU is the only university in North Carolina with a Dental School, Medical School, and College of Engineering at the same institution. It is also the state's leader in distance education, with more than 100 online degree and certificate programs. In Fall 2023, ECU employed over 5,800 personnel; over 2,000 of these employees held a faculty appointment. In 2022-2023, ECU conferred almost 7,400 degrees and certificates and, in the most recent data reported to the National Center for Educational Statistics (for fiscal year 2021), had core expenses of almost $600 million. ECU's total enrollment in Fall 2023 was 26,785 with 21,423 undergraduates and 5,362 graduate, professional, and post-baccalaureate students. All 100 counties in North Carolina, 47 states and the District of Columbia, and 69 countries were represented in the student body. Ethnic minorities made up 35 percent of undergraduate students, 29 percent of graduate students, 52 percent of medical students, and 46 percent of dental students.* Almost 30 percent of all students were enrolled in online courses only. Over 40% of ECU students are in a STEM-related program.
