Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is a public university located in Allendale, Michigan, just twelve miles from Grand Rapids, one of the state's largest cities. Founded in 1960 to meet the educational needs of Michigan's 'west coast' population, it encompasses a 1,300-acre Valley Campus in Allendale; the downtown Robert C. Pew Campus and the Health Campus at the top of the Medical Mile in Grand Rapids. GVSU has regional centers in Muskegon, Traverse City, Detroit, Dowagiac, and Battle Creek. In 2021, U.S. News and World Report ranked GVSU one of the best regional universities in the Midwest and third top public school in the nation.
