Stark State College, a student-centered, comprehensive community college in Northeast Ohio, is committed to preparing its students for career success in a competitive, sophisticated economy. SSC graduates are in demand by employers who recognize their high skill level and readiness to succeed. Stark State offers more than 230 associate degrees and certificates in business, education, engineering technologies, health and human services, information technologies, liberal arts, mathematics and sciences. More than 10,000 credit-seeking students currently take advantage of the College's low tuition for affordable, quality higher education. Stark State is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and many programs maintain individual accreditations from their national accrediting associations. The College has transfer agreements with more than 30 colleges and universities - including The Ohio State University, Kent State University, The University of Akron and others - to help students smoothly transition to a four-year year degree program after earning a Stark State associate degree. Stark State maintains satellite centers and off-campus sites in Akron, Canton and other locations and each site offers students the same convenience, affordability, quality faculty and individualized attention as they find on main campus. The College also offers hundreds of online courses as well as 23 fully online degrees and 14 fully online certificates. Partnerships with business and industry ensure SSC programs meet workforce needs, and the College relies on the acumen and advice of advisory committees made up of local business leaders. SSC's workforce training helps employers find skilled workers and train current works on and offsite. Employees also can take continuing education or professional development or further their careers with certificates and degrees. Accessibility and flexible scheduling make it convenient for working people to pursue an education at Stark State - more than 70% of SSC students are employed while attending college. Nearly 100% of Stark State graduates live and work in Northeast Ohio, contributing to the economic development of Stark, Summit and surrounding counties.
