For more than 100 years, Texas Tech University in Lubbock has shown that it can adapt to the changing landscape of education to meet the demands of students in a wide array of disciplines. Founded as Texas Technological College in 1923, the school opened two years later with six buildings and 914 students, with the first graduate-level instruction beginning in 1927. The School of Law welcomed its first class in 1967, and by the mid-1970s, Texas Tech had six colleges: Agricultural Sciences, Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Engineering and Home Economics.
