One of the leading academic institutions in the Northeast, Delaware Valley University (DelVal) is a small, close-knit university known for its innovative use of experiential (hands-on) learning. DelVal is a private, comprehensive, nonprofit university that emphasizes and requires experiential learning. Located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, about 30 miles north of Philadelphia, the University offers 27 undergraduate majors in life and physical sciences, business and the humanities and agricultural and environmental sciences; a doctorate in education, nine master's degrees, and many graduate certificates in a variety of fields. Founded in 1896, DelVal currently educates approximately 1,777 undergraduate students, 401 graduate students and 445 community programming participants. DelVal has been cited by the National Society for Experiential Education as having the country's top experiential-learning program, by Princeton Review as one of the best colleges in the Northeast, and by College Factual as having one of the top 20 animal science programs in the country. DelVal was named to the 2022 U.S. News &amp; World Report Best Regional Universities North list. The University also was highlighted in the "Top Performers for Social Mobility" list. At DelVal, students study theory in small classes, then learn by doing.
