Simpson College is dedicated to your success, however you define it. Since its founding in 1860, the college has guided students to the next stage in their lives, be that a successful career, graduate school or serving others. The beautiful, tree-lined campus is ideally located in Indianola, Iowa. The setting is intimate enough to offer a personalized education, but close enough to the Des Moines metropolitan area to take advantage of the internship and career opportunities there. The 1,200 students benefit from a student to faculty ratio of 11:1. The majority of Simpson faculty hold the highest degree in their field, but they also are dedicated to nurturing each students growth. They work side by side with students and promote hands-on learning, equipping students with the skills demanded by todays employers and graduate schools. This personalized attention by experts in their field is an added value of a Simpson education. And the college prides itself on helping undecided students find a major or life direction. Simpson offers over 80 majors and minors, highlighted by a leading-edge curriculum that is gaining national attention. As part of this, students take advantage of community partnerships, hold internships, study abroad and conduct independent research. The goal is to produce graduates fully prepared to meet the demands of todays highly competitive world. We encourage this in a number of ways. We have such strong business partnerships and a vibrant alumni network that any student who wants to complete an internship can do so. The popular 4-4-1 academic calendar allows students a three-week May term to participate in an intensive field experience/internship, or study abroad, or take a course on campus. Campus life is robust and engaged. There are more than 75 clubs and organizations. Simpsons athletic teams compete in NCAA Division III. The music, theatre and arts programs are nationally acclaimed, and participation is open to all students, not just majors.
