Founded in 1794, the University of Tennessee is the state's flagship land-grant institution. UT is one of the nation's oldest and most storied public universities. For 225 years, Volunteers have been lighting the way for others, across Tennessee and throughout the world. UT is a Research 1 university with 11 academic colleges and more than 900 programs of study, many ranked among the top in their class. The university is committed to student success and provides comprehensive support to help students achieve their academic goals and engage in campus life.
