Alaska Curiosity Scholarship recognizes and rewards, with scholarships, residents of Alaska who are interested in attending college or graduate school in the state and who submit outstanding videos and essays on assigned topics.

Requirements
  • This competition is open to residents of Alaska who are high school seniors, undergraduates in a 2- to a 5-year program, or graduate students.
  • Applicants must be attending, or planning to attend, an educational institution in the state.
  • They must submit a 2 to 4-minute video, accompanied by a 500-word essay that expands on the video, that answers 1 of the following prompts: 1) an issue that they are dedicated to solving, an opportunity that surfaced from the adversity that they had courage and curiosity to address, and the steps they have taken so far to do so; or 2) what motivates them to continue their education and how they are going to overcome challenges in college and continue to invest in themselves.
  • Selection is based on creativity, originality, and thoughtfulness/quality of content.
