Requirements
  • This competition is open to Arizona residents who are between 17 and 20 years of age and who attend a Beef Ambassador competition at the University of Arizona.
  • Applicants must 1) prepare a lesson plan for a presentation on the beef industry to youth, implement the presentation to an elementary class, obtain an evaluation form from the teacher of the class, submit a report on the presentation to the judges at the Beef Ambassador competition, and explain in a 5minute interview; 2) compose a brief (150-word) response to a recently-published article regarding the beef industry on a computer at the competition; 3) present a consumer demonstration at the competition in which they provide a sample of a beef product to scripted "consumers" and answer questions that demonstrate their knowledge, capacity to perform in the field, and ability to present beef in a positive light; and 4) participate in a mock media interview to demonstrate their knowledge, articulation, and ability to present the beef industry in a positive light.
  • Based on scores for all those activities, judges select an Arizona Beef Ambassador.
