The AWS Tidewater Virginia Section Scholarship provides financial assistance, preferably to Virginia residents, who are pursuing a degree in welding engineering or materials joining engineering. Additional special consideration is given to students attending LeTourneau University, those with documented work history that includes hands-on welding experience, successful completion of a high school welding curriculum, underrepresented groups in the welding industry, and those pursuing a degree from an ABET accredited program.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2.4 for high school seniors, minimum 2.1 for college students
  • Resident of the U.S.
  • Undergraduate student
  • Seeking an associate or bachelor's degree full or parttime
  • Studying welding engineering, materials engineering, or welding engineering technology
  • U.S. citizen
  • Demonstrate financial need Preference is given in the following order: applicants who reside in the Boundaries of the AWS Tidewater Virginia Section, residents of Virginia, followed by students attending LeTourneau University and studying welding and materials joining engineering or welding and materials joining engineering technology. Additional preference is given for documented work history that includes handson welding experience, successful completion of a high school welding curriculum, underrepresented groups in the welding industry, and those pursuing a degree from an ABET accredited program.
