Bank Iowa Spirit of Chandy Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors who are interested in swimming and other activities and plan to attend college in any state.

Requirements
  • This program is open to seniors graduating from high schools in Iowa and planning to enroll full-time at a 2- or 4-year college or university in any state.
  • Preference is given to students who demonstrate involvement in the activities about which the program's namesake (Chandy Barr Blanton) was passionate: swimming, biking, running, and flying.
  • Applicants must submit a 1page essay describing their personal strengths, their planned college and major, their goals for the next 5 years, and how they plan to attain those.
  • Selection is based on academics, character, leadership, honors, awards received, participation in school and community activities, and involvement in Chandy's favorite activities.
  • Financial need is not considered.
