BIA Pathways Scholarship provides financial assistance and work experience at the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) to Native American students interested in preparing for a career related to natural resources.

Requirements
  • This program is open to Alaska Natives and American Indians enrolled in a federally-recognized tribe.
  • Applicants must be enrolled full or halftime in an undergraduate or graduate degree or certificate program at a qualifying educational institution in any state.
  • They must be preparing for a career in natural resources; eligible majors include (but are not limited to) agriculture, biological sciences, engineering, forestry, physical science, rangeland, and wildland fire.
  • Internships are available at BIA sites throughout the Indian country.
  • Some positions also require a medical examination, drug testing, a valid driver's license, and specific educational certification or degree requirements.
