Bill Farr Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students in southern California who are interested in preparing for a career in journalism.

Requirements
  • This program is open to residents of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Orange counties (or residents of any state who attend school in those areas) who are high school seniors, undergraduates, or graduate students preparing for a career in journalism with an emphasis on news.
  • Applicants should be enrolled as a journalism major, but if their university does not offer such a major, they may present other evidence of intent to prepare for a career in the field (not advertising, public relations, publicity, law, or related fields).
  • Selection is based primarily on the potential to succeed in news media careers.
  • Financial need is considered only if 2 or more applicants are equally qualified.
