The Charles & Mitch Ota Scholarship is a need-based program for students from Maui who have participated in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program. Applicants attending a college or university outside of Maui County, either on another Hawaiian island or the continental U.S. are encouraged to apply. Graduating high school seniors, and students who have completed at least three years of AVID classes are given special consideration.

  • Graduating high school senior or previous graduate of King Kekaulike, Maui or Molokai high schools, Hawai'i

  • Planning to attend school in the U.S.
  • Participated in the AVID program while attending high school
  • Demonstrate financial need Preference is given to graduating high school seniors, further preference is given to those who have completed at least three years of AVID classes.
