The Chief John Raaflaub Memorial Firefighter Scholarship Fund supports students from Douglas County, Wisconsin, and the greater Twin Ports region who are preparing for careers in firefighting, with a special emphasis on the Superior Fire Department. The fund assists both recent high school graduates and nontraditional students as they begin or continue their training in fire service.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3.00 GPA
  • Resident of the U.S.
  • Attend Lake Superior College
  • Graduates of high schools in Douglas County, (Wisconsin) the Twin Ports Area (Wisconsin/Minnesota), or be nontraditional/GED students
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree
  • Studying a firefightingrelated field
  • Participation in community service
  • Demonstrate financial need Preference may also be given to women, historically underserved population applicants, those with volunteer experience or relevant coursework, and individuals who have participated in a “ride along” or similar program with a fire department.
