Requirements
  • High school seniors who are high scorers in the National Merit Scholarship Program but who are not awarded scholarships are considered for this program.
  • Those who are named as finalists receive these Merit Scholarships, awarded by corporate sponsors to students who fulfill preferential criteria specified by the award sponsor; usually, the criteria require that the recipient be the child of an employee of the sponsoring corporation, although some are offered to residents of a service area or community where a business has plants or offices or to students with career plans the sponsor wishes to encourage.
  • Some corporate sponsors also offer Special Scholarships; those are offered to students who did not qualify as finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program but may receive these awards because the corporate sponsor wishes to award scholarships to the specified groups, even though not all have achieved status as Merit Scholars.
  • Some of the Corporate and Special Scholarships are meritbased; others consider financial need.
