The Edward Yoshiharu Sakuma & Kay Kubo Sakuma Education Honors Scholarship is a need-based program for students committed to teaching in the Hawai'i public school system. Applicants who seek a graduate degree full-time in the College of Education at the Univesity of Hawai'i- Manoa are encouraged to apply with special consideration given to candidates pursuing a Ph.D. Further consideration is given to applicants who intend to teach math or science.

  • Planning to teach in the State of Hawai'i public school system
  • Participation in community service, extracurricular activities, or leadership
  • Demonstrate financial need Preference is given to students who are seeking a Ph.D. and intend to teach mathematics or science. Further preference is given to renewal applicants with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
