The Emily Lester Vermont Opportunity Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of Vermont who are or have been under the custody of the Department for Children and Families (DCF). Students who demonstrate financial need are eligible to apply.

Requirements
  • Resident of Vermont
  • High school senior, undergraduate student, on academic break, or not currently enrolled
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree
  • Attending or planning to attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding in the U.S. or Canada
  • U.S. citizen or FAFSAeligible non-citizen
  • Currently under the custody of the Vermont Commissioner of the Department for Children and Families (DCF), OR
  • Between the ages of 18 and 24, and have been under the custody of the Vermont Commissioner of the DCF for at least six months when the student was between the ages of 16 and 18
  • Demonstrate financial need
