About the Scholarship

The Esperanza Education Fund provides scholarships for immigrant students and children of two immigrant parents so that they may experience higher education regardless of their national origin, ethnicity, or immigration status. The scholarships also provide academic and career advice from accomplished professionals. Graduating high school seniors or recent GED recipients in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia are welcome to apply.

Requirements
  • Born outside the U.S. or have two parents born outside the U.S.
  • Resident of District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia
  • High school senior or GED recipient
  • Seeking an associate or bachelor's degree
  • Fulltime student
  • U.S. citizen, asylumseeker or asylee, conditional permanent resident, Cuban or Haitian entrant, current DACA status, FAFSA-eligible non-citizen, not a U.S. citizen, pending DACA application, permanent resident, or refugee
  • Maximum Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) varies: $68,500 for 1 person in family, $78,250 for 2, up to $129,100 for 8 individuals in a family
