Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors in North Carolina who submit outstanding essays on state history and plan to attend college in the state.

Requirements
  • This program is open to seniors graduating from high schools in North Carolina and planning to attend a postsecondary institution in the state.
  • Applicants must submit an essay of 500 to 700 words on a topic that changes annually but relates to North Carolina history; recently, students were asked to write on how ordinary folk shaped their communities in North Carolina.
  • Selection is based on that essay (75%), scholarship and character (20%), and financial need (5%).
