Fort Bliss Spouses' Association Merit Scholarship provides financial assistance for college or graduate school study in any state to the children and spouses of military and civilian personnel in the Fort Bliss/El Paso area of Texas.

Requirements
  • This program is open to spouses and children of active-duty, retired, and deceased military members and of civilian employees of the Department of Defense or the Department of the Army.
  • Applications are accepted in 5 categories: 1) high school seniors and GED recipients; 2) students currently enrolled at a 2 or 4-year college or university in any state; 3) junior college students; 4) graduate students; and 5) vocational and trade school students.
  • Applicants must be members or spouses or children of members of the Fort Bliss Spouses' Association (FBSA).
  • Their parent or spouse must be assigned to the Fort Bliss/El Paso area or be on an unaccompanied remote assignment, but the family has remained in that area.
  • Selection is based on academic record, job record, volunteer work, participation in communitybased activities, 2 letters of recommendation, and a brief essay on how being a member of a military community is going to help them achieve their future life goals.
