Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Calf Scramble Scholarship provide financial assistance for college to participants in the calf scramble at the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show.

Requirements
  • The calf scramble at the exposition is open to members of FFA and 4-H who are residents of Texas between 14 and 17 years of age and not beyond their junior year of high school.
  • Participants enter a ring in groups of 16 during each of the 29 rodeo performances of the show.
  • Calves are then released into the ring and the participants attempt to catch and halter a calf with a rope lariat.
  • If they do so successfully, they are allowed to purchase a beef or dairy heifer of their choice.
  • Over the next year, they raise the animal and keep records of their activities.
  • At the following exposition, they enter the heifer into the junior livestock show division.
  • They also submit their monthly reports and an essay on "My Scramble Project." Scholarships are awarded to participants on the basis of their monthly reports, essay, and placing at the show.
