The Foster Child Grant is available to foster children who are currently enrolled at any public or private institution in Massachusetts. Students who are in the custody of the Department of Children and Families through a Care and Protection Petition and under the age of 25 are eligible to apply.

Requirements
  • Foster care child
  • Resident of Massachusetts
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree as a fulltime student in Massachusetts
  • U.S. citizen or a nonU.S. citizen eligible for federal financial aid
  • Aged 24 or younger at the start of the academic year Not be in default of any federal or state Student Loans for attendance at any institution or owe a refund for any previous financial aid received
  • Be in compliance with Selective Service Registration
  • Have signed a voluntary agreement with the Department of Social Services establishing terms and conditions for receiving such aid
  • Was placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families through a Care and Protection Petition
  • Be in good standing and meet the institution's requirements for satisfactory academic progress
