The G. Michael Shoffner, M.D. Scholarship program is available to nontraditional medical students working toward an M.D. or D.O. at a medical school in the state of Georgia. Students who are at least 25 years old and have lived and/or worked in Central Georgia for a minimum of 3 years before applying to medical school are encouraged to apply.

  • Resident of and/or worked in the counties of Bibb, Baldwin, Butts, Coffee, Crawford, Houston, Jones, Lamar, Laurens, Monroe, Peach, Spalding, Taylor, Twiggs, Upson, or Wilkinson in Georgia a minimum of 3 years prior to applying to medical school
  • Enrolled at an accredited medical school in Georgia (Augusta University in Augusta or Athens, Emory University, Morehouse School of Medicine, Mercer University in Macon or Savannah or the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine's Georgia Campus in Kennesaw)
