The Gilman-McCain Scholarship is named after the late senator John S. McCain to honor his legacy in public service. The need-based scholarship is available to dependents of active duty service members who plan to study abroad or participate in an internship program during their undergraduate career. Students who are seeking an associate or bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university in the U.S. are welcome to apply.

  • Child or spouse of an active-duty military member (including Air Force, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, Coast Guard, Coast Guard Reserve, Marine Corps, Marine Corps Reserve, Navy, Navy Reserve, Space Force, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and USPHS Commissioned Corps)
  • Resident of the U.S.
  • Seeking an associate or bachelor's degree in the U.S.
  • U.S. citizen or U.S. national
  • Applied or accepted into a creditbearing study abroad or internship program in a travel advisory of 1 or 2 country
