Guy DeRosa Safety in Schools Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students affiliated with the California Teachers Association (CTA) who are enrolled in a teacher/counseling credential program and are committed to benefitting the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) community.

Requirements
  • This program is open to members of the CTA, members of the Student California Teachers Association (SCTA), and public school students sponsored by an active CTA or SCTA member.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a teacher/counseling credential program in California to prepare for a career in public education.
  • They must submit an essay that addresses 1 or more of the following topics: making the environment safe for GLBT students, their past or intended involvement in making the environment safe for GLBT students, the importance of GLBT role models, and/or the importance of role models for GLBT ethnic minorities.
