Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation Youth Beef Team Scholarship provides financial assistance for college to high school seniors in Iowa who have participated in the Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation's Youth Beef Team training program.

Requirements
  • This program is open to residents of Iowa between 12 and 18 years of age.
  • Applicants take spokesperson and industry issues training from the beef industry staff and engage in promotional activities during their high school years.
  • As high school seniors, they submit a list of their extracurricular activities and leadership roles in their school and community (worth 5 points in the selection process); a list of the beef industry promotional and public relations activities they have accomplished during their high school careers (10 points); a 400word statement on their goals and plans for the future (5 points); and a 500-word essay on their choice of 4 assigned topics related to the beef industry (10 points).
  • Based on their scores, the top 10 applicants are selected as finalists and invited to a competition at the sponsor's headquarters.
  • They make a presentation of 5 to 8 minutes on a beef industry issue of their choice and are interviewed by judges.
  • Both the presentation and interview are scored on professional demeanor, ability to communicate, and knowledge of the beef industry.
  • The presentation is worth an additional 30 points and the interview is worth an additional 40 points.
  • Those scores are added to the scores from the application, and the winners are selected on the basis of total scores.
  • Winners become members of Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation Elite Beef Team. They are called upon to speak and assist at various beef industry events during the year. They are expected to assist with activities at the Iowa Cattlemen's Association summer conference and may be asked to participate in State Fair, summer conference, and May Beef Month promotions.
