Kansas High School Journalist of the Year Scholarship recognizes and rewards, with college scholarships, high school seniors in Kansas who demonstrate excellence as a journalist.

Requirements

This award is available to seniors graduating from high schools in Kansas who have been involved in journalism for at least 2 years with an adviser who is a member of the Journalism Education Association (JEA).

Applicants must be planning to study journalism and/or mass communications in college and to prepare for a career in those fields.

They must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Winners are selected in 3 categories: for schools in divisions 1A/2A, 3A/4A, and 5A/6A. An overall winner is selected from among those.
