Requirements
  • This program is open to residents of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Orange counties (or residents of any state who attend school in those areas) who are college sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students of color preparing for a career in journalism with an emphasis on news.
  • Applicants should be enrolled as a journalism major, but if their university does not offer such a major, they may present other evidence of intent to prepare for a career in the field (not advertising, public relations, publicity, law, or related fields).
  • Selection is based primarily on the potential to succeed in news media careers.
  • Financial need is considered only if 2 or more applicants are equally qualified.
